PTA Boards


   July is here so make sure you have your books in order. PTA Boards be sure to get your books closed out for the 2014-15 school year!
   Don't forget to do your financial reviews by the end of July... they are due by August 15th. Financial Review forms can be found on our website.
   Also you need to get the books turned over to the treasurer on the next board as well as get signature cards at the bank signed over as needed. Click here for financial review form.

PTA Insurance Info for Kenton County PTAs

Welcome to Summer! We've had many questions about insurance. All District 14 PTAs are eligible to get discounted insurance under the KY PTA's umbrella policy. To enroll, call The Underwriters Group in Louisville and tell them that you are a KY PTA and need to get insurance - (502) 244-1343. If you already have the annual insurance policy, the policy dates run September 1st to September 1st. Your renewal bill will be mailed to your school's address, attention PTA in late August. Once the insurance company receives your check, they will mail out a new policy for your files. This policy and other documents need to be kept in a central file with the year's bank statements and other important documents. To all Kenton County PTAs, The Kenton County Board of EDU will be added as an “endorsement” to any Kenton County PTA that needs it, free of charge. The arrangements have been made and the KY PTA authorized it. THE CATCH, however, is that you have to call the Underwriters Insurance Group and tell them that you need it. Their phone number is 502-244-1343. You have to call to request it for the 2015-16 policy. You will need to call and ask for it every year. I’m sorry that it is not an automatic item. There are PTAs located in Kenton County that are not part of the Kenton County Board of EDU, so the insurance company can’t do it across the board based on addresses and is unwilling to keep a list of who needs it on their end. Please add this information to your “procedures book” for your PTA so the information is passed on from year to year.

Officer Info Needed

It's that time of year again! Most PTAs hold elections for new officers in April and May and the District 14 PTA needs the new contact info for your officers. You are welcome to email to Nancy Chamberlin - nancyjochamberlin@twc.com The District communicates with all our schools via email, so accurate and legible email addresses are key on this form. You should have done this already and submitted a copy to the KY State PTA. KY PTA address is: 148 Consumers Lane Frankfort, KY 40601

File Taxes Before November 15

All PTAs are required to file taxes every year. PTA/PTSAs who run over $50,000 through their accounts during the year must file either the 990 or 990EZ forms, plus Schedule A for Non-Profit Organizations. Other forms may also be required.
If the PTA/PTSA runs less than $50,000 through their account during the year they must file the online only 990N form. Failure to file the proper tax forms will result in penalties, fines, and possible loss of tax exempt status.

Send a copy of the 990, 990EZ with Sch. A and B, if required, or a copy of the verification receipt from the online e-card filing to: KY PTA 148 Consumers Lane Frankfort, KY 40601

You no longer have to send any copies to the Attorney General. Please send an email scan to treasurer@14pta.org, so we can confirm that your PTA is in compliance and will continue to stay in good standing.
